The timeline can vary based on current industry demand, depending on this it could take between 3-12 months. Candidates should not resign from their current employment until they are notified by the Alliance in advance of their 2-week Safety & Orientation training course. Upon completion of the training, Applicants are then dispatched to their respective Electrical Contractor.

Electrician (ICI)
A 309A electrician plans, assembles, installs, repairs, tests, verifies and maintains electrical systems in various settings. They also cut and install conduits, electrical conductor and closures and supports.

Residential
(LRR)
Low-Rise Residential (LRR) apprentices work in buildings that are not more than 4 storeys high.

Network Cabling
Specialist 631A
(NCS)
A Network Cabling Specialist installs, tests, labels and maintains low voltage communication distribution systems. They work within the framework that includes voice, video and data transmissions within industrial, commercial, institutional and office complexes.

The Alliance
The Electrical Apprentice Training Alliance (The Alliance) is a non-profit organization, funded by the Greater Toronto Electrical Contractors Association (Greater Toronto ECA) and works collaboratively with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 353 to administer apprenticeship programs.
- Recruits, selects and trains pre-apprentices.
- Provides dedicated advisors to help apprentices navigate the program and academic requirements.
- Offers access to free training, resources and experiences to support learning.

What should I do if I was educated outside of Ontario?
For those Applicants who have not completed their high school education in Ontario, the Alliance will accept a Comprehensive Secondary School Assessment (course by course assessment) Report from such services as International Credential Assessment Services of Canada (ICAS) found on the Government Canada website.

Why is it mandatory to have Math, English and Physics to apply?
These subjects have been identified as key foundational qualifications to help apprentices successfully complete their apprenticeship, Trade school qualifications, and the C of Q exam.
